Spain Launches Cross-Operator Online Gambling Deposit Limits

Default limits of €700 daily, €1,750 weekly and €3,300 over four weeks will apply across licensed operators, with mandatory implementation scheduled for March 2027.

Spain’s gambling regulator, the DGOJ, has launched a system that combines players’ deposits across licensed online gambling operators under a single personal limit.

The default thresholds are €700 per day, €1,750 per week and €3,300 over four weeks. The system is currently undergoing testing and is scheduled to enter fully into force on March 26, 2027.

Deposits Combined Across Accounts

Previously, deposit limits applied independently at each operator. A player using several platforms could therefore deposit more across the market than the limits allowed at any individual company.

The new system addresses that gap by coordinating deposit information across operators in real time. According to the DGOJ, approximately one-third of active online gamblers in Spain use multiple operators. That figure describes account usage, rather than evidence that all those players deliberately circumvented limits.

The regulator will manage the central system, which it describes as an additional safeguard alongside operator-level deposit controls.

Players Can Change or Remove Default Limits

The thresholds are adjustable defaults rather than permanent maximums. Players can request changes or voluntarily remove their combined limit through a dedicated procedure that includes information about gambling risks.

Changes or removal take effect after three working days, creating a delay intended to discourage impulsive decisions. Players can increase their limit only once every three months.

New Portal Consolidates Gambling Records

The accompanying Player Portal provides a single view of activity across authorised operators, including deposits, wagering, winnings, losses and historical statistics.

Users can also check which gambling accounts are registered under their identity, helping them identify potential impersonation. The portal supports personalised activity and spending alerts, tracks requests to change combined limits and allows users to download annual activity certificates.

Access is free through Spain’s Cl@ve identification system and is available to people regardless of whether they hold a gambling account. The portal is already available while testing of the combined deposit-limit system continues.
